Power restored at South Rand Hospital
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
The lights are back on at South Rand District Hospital in Gauteng, which had been without power and relying on generators since Tuesday.
The outage was caused by a faulty cable on the hospital’s internal infrastructure, which connects electricity to the facility.
The hospital's acting CEO Simphiwe Gada said members of the public and relatives of patients at the facility were immediately informed of the power outage.
He said work then began to restore power.
"The matter was reported to the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development, which has since appointed a contractor on an urgent basis to work on restoring the electricity supply.”
