Wits students have intensified their protest against what they claim to be financial exclusion due to historical debt, as well as a lack of funding and accommodation.
The students returned to the streets of Braamfontein on Friday on what was day three of the protest.
Students forced stores on Jorissen Street to close their doors, accusing the businesses of adding to the economic woes of students by charging them exorbitant fees for food and accommodation.
The group consist of various students and political organisations.
Wits University confirmed it issued suspension orders to “disruptors” on Thursday for transgressing the university’s rules during the protest.
The university added that attempts to engage the SRC failed to yield any results.
