The High Court in Johannesburg has handed convicted murderer Dumisani Mkhwanazi an effective prison sentence of 31 years.

Mkhwanazi was convicted of the brutal murder of 21-year-old Palesa Madiba in December last year.
He was sentenced for the murder of the University of Johannesburg student on Friday.
Madiba’s remains were found in a shallow grave two years after she disappeared.
In handing down his sentence, Judge Prince Manyathi said Mkhwanazi showed little remorse for taking Madiba’s life.
"The young 21-year-old was actually beautiful and untimely killed by you and the court viewed this as a serious one.
"She regarded you as an uncle and she expected you to protect her. Unfortunately, you betrayed her and you killed her.
"You executed an excessive blow and fatal force in taking her life and disregarded her integrity.”
