Over 90 000 active Covid-19 cases in SA

South Africa has 90 103 active Covid-19 cases as the country moves into the first weekend under level 2 of lockdown.

Gauteng is still the epicentre of the coronavirus, with 30 512 active cases, followed by KwaZulu-Natal at 23 162 and the Free State at 13 319.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Thursday evening, show the Covid-19 recovery rate remaining at 82%.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 599 940 people have tested positive for Covid-19.
This is an increase of 3 880 new cases in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday.
The number of Covid-19 deaths continues to increase with the total death toll at 12 618.
