Next Eskom CEO must have experience in energy sector, says Cosatu
The Congress of the South African Trade Union (Cosatu) says that the next Eskom CEO must have experience in the energy sector.
Cosatu briefed the media on Thursday following the congress’ central executive committee this week.
General Secretary, Duncan Luvuno says that the incoming CEO should be one who possesses the relevant experience.
‘Who is supposed to be a CEO there obviously it’s not Cosatu who will decide. But we want someone who has an energy background, who has an engineer, we want someone who has the capacity, we want someone who has a way of dealing with the challenges that Eskom is facing today and reducing load shedding,” he said.

Now former Eskom CEO, André de Ruyter, who was initially meant to serve his notice until the end of March, was shown the door with immediate effect on Wednesday night.
This follows his interview on eNCA where he revealed that struggling power utility was used as a “feeding trough” for the ANC.
It is still unclear who will succeed De Ruyter after his three-year tenure at the entity.
