The governing party’s top decision-making body between conferences will discuss Zuma’s conduct during a two-day meeting over the weekend.

National spokesperson Pule Mabe says the ANC’s so-called step aside rule for those linked to crime will also be on the agenda.

Zuma is expected to appear before the State Capture Commission from Monday - but he has already indicated that he would defy a court order for him to shift behind the witness stand.

“The national executive committee officials must engage with former president Jacob Zuma. That decision is there but it really depends on their diaries and if there are issues, including those that out in the public, may want discussed or want some resolve on may be discussed within that space,” Mabe said.

Over the past few weeks Zuma has dominated the headlines.

Last week he received a visit from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) at his Nkandla home.

The EFF leaders claims it was purely a friendly visit.

On Thursday Zuma also welcomed the uMkhontho we Sizwe Military Veterans (MKMVA).

MKMVA have denied their leaders went to Nkandla to interrogate former president Jacob Zuma about his visit with the EFF.

MK Military Veterans Association spokesperson Carl Niehaus says they were there to discuss Zuma's decision not to appear at the commission and other pressing issues.

Niehaus said the organisation supports Zuma.

“President Zuma unpacked for us his reasons why he felt that he would not go to the Zondo commission and we fully agree with the reasons that he advanced, and we made it very clear to president Zuma that it would be a totally unwise move.

“It would cause political instability and even violence.
