Mtshweni-Tsipane vows to improve infrastructure in Mpumalang

Aging water infrastructure, vandalism, and corruption have been hindering the provision of water and sanitation in the province. 

Residents of several communities, including Emalahleni, have taken to the streets to protest against water shortages in recent months.

Speaking at the legislature in Mbombela on Friday, Mtshweni-Tsipane said the government is also attending to sewerage spills.

"We are addressing the issues of water shortages as well as the quality of water that we are providing to our communities.  We are aware of some challenges in some municipalities, and they are receiving our undivided urgent attention". 

Mtshweni-Tsipane said the provincial government is also investing in school infrastructure.

"We want our schools to be conducive to the culture of teaching and learning.  We are also aware of the unfavourable conditions of our roads. 

"As I mentioned a week ago on my SOPA, we will be rolling out a rehabilitation and maintenance programme that will include roads, our schools, our clinics and other social infrastructure.”
