Moyane: KPMG report not flawed
Auditing firm KPMG says its report into a so-called rogue unit at the South African Revenue Services (Sars) cannot be relied upon.
It believes the conclusion and recommendations are flawed.
However, Sars commissioner Tom Moyane believes otherwise.
Moyane was briefing the media at Sars' head office in Pretoria on Monday.
"The report by KPMG is not flawed. In fact the report confirms conclusively and deeply so that there is a prima facie wrongdoing in this organisation. That there were people who were involved in serious problems that were not tax related. When the report was given to us, it gave one goosebumps that what Sikhakhane had unearthed is just the tip of the iceberg," Moyane said.

He told journalists that Sars had not relied on the KPMG report to institute disciplinary proceedings against employees implicated in the so-called rogue unit.
"The three employees Johan Van Loggerenberg, Ivan Pillay and Peter Richer, were charged as a result of the Sikhakhane report. Instead of facing a disciplinary hearing and clearing their names, all three opted to resign, with van Loggerenberg resigning in February 2015 and Pillay and Richer in May 2015."
