Mbalula: Booze laws need to be reviewed
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula says he believes government needs to look at implementing more stringent laws to regulate the sale of alcohol.

Mbalula on Monday visited the families of the three Tshwane metro police officers who were killed in a crash with a suspected drunk driver.
It’s understood the officers tried to stop the suspect in the early hours of Sunday morning, but he sped off and crashed head-on into the officers’ vehicle on the N4.
This weekend, 3 Tshwane Metro Police officers died while responding to a call for back up. The officials were killed in a head on collision with a suspected drunk driver.

Mbalula says he believes the curtailing the sale of booze will help prevent the carnage on the country’s roads.
"There is easy access of alcohol, people are out of control in terms of alcohol. We must now put our heads together.
"When it’s time for government to act nobody can say government is being unfair. It's not about corona, this thing has been there.
"But alcohol - you can see what it's doing. It's a mess. We drink from 6-6, it's over.
"We must review our laws in terms of alcohol access, it doesn't work. It has been open-ended for years and it doesn't work.”

As a country, we need to review our laws on the access of alcohol. We need to address this as it continues to kill our people on roads and everywhere. pic.twitter.com/DN1fKaXKgE
