A man has lost his life in yet another fire at an informal settlement in Johannesburg.

In the latest incident, a man died in a fire which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Doornkop, Soweto.
The 26-year-old man, who died from smoke inhalation, was confirmed dead on the scene by Johannesburg emergency services.
A shack fire also claimed one life in George Goch on Sunday, while at least 10 homes were destroyed in a separate blaze in Kaya Sands.
An 82-year-old man also died as a result of smoke inhalation when his home in Emndeni caught fire on 4 August.
"As part of our efforts to reduce fire incidents and fatalities this winter, the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services Public Education Unit (Pier) will be conducting a door-to-door campaign at Msawawa Informal Settlement in Kya Sands this (Tuesday) morning,” said emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.
