Man arrested at Beitbridge for stolen car, fraud

Police in Limpopo arrested a 44 year old male suspect for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and fraud on Monday at Beitbridge Port of Entry.

According to police reports, the suspect was trying to smuggle a grey Hyundai H1 after it was reported stolen in August 2024 in Pretoria.
The police provincial spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect was arrested on the scene and the vehicle was seized for further investigations.
“The suspect was apprehended at the Departure Vehicle Check Point, while he was allegedly attempting to smuggle the vehicle, a grey Hyundai H1 out of the country to Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Port of Entry,” said Ledwaba.
He added that the suspect presented fraudulent documents of the vehicle after being caught.
“The suspect was immediately taken into custody and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and fraud. The vehicle has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.”
While the matter is still under investigation, the suspect’s court appearance date in the Musina Magistrate’s Court has not been confirmed.
