Jongizizwe Dlabathi appointed as Ekurhuleni’s new finance MM

The ANC's Jongizizwe Dlabathi has been appointed as the new finance MMC in Ekurhuleni.

Dlabathi replaces the EFF's Nkululeko Dunga, who was axed in a move widely seen as punishment by the ANC for the failed government of national unity talks between the two parties.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosimphile Xhakaza said Dlabathi's appointment will assist the city in regaining its clean audit opinion from the auditor-general.
"I am confident that his appointment will significantly strengthen our institutional capacity, supporting our efforts to enhance financial sustainability and optimise revenue enhancement in the city," Xhakaza said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the ANC Regional Task Team in Ekurhuleni has described Dlabathi as a perfect fit for the finance portfolio in the city.
"With his wealth of knowledge and experience in local government, we are optimistic that he will live up to the expectations as set by the Executive Mayor, Cde Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, amidst the current challenges faced by the portfolio,” said Deputy Coordinator Moipone Mhlongo.
