The City of Johannesburg is one of the municipalities serviced by Rand Water.

The planned maintenance is expected to take place between 22 June and 29 July.

The utility briefed the media on Thursday on its readiness for the month-long campaign.

Joburg Water said residents can expect low water pressure to no supply in some areas.

The entity said in a statement, "We will provide stationary tankers in critical areas like hospitals, clinics, municipal offices, schools, and police stations."

"There will also be tankers across a number of suburbs that will be affected. However, at specific predetermined points, this includes avoiding very late-night water trucking."

Recovery is expected to take between five and 14 days after the supply has been fully restored.

"Areas supplied through direct supply points from Rand Water can lead to quicker recovery, systems will be impacted differently, and other dynamics will influence how various systems recover.

"There will be a combination of no water and low pressure. Residents in low-lying areas will always recover quicker than those in high-lying areas."
