JMPD arrests drunk scholar transport driver

A scholar transport driver has been arrested for drunk driving in Johannesburg.

The driver was taken into custody by metro police officers after he was involved in an accident on Westpark Drive in Montgomery Park, in Randburg, on Monday morning.
The Johannesburg Metro Police says the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle when he lost control.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says 12 pupils were injured and taken to various medical facilities for treatment.
“The driver of the Toyota Quantum was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He has been arrested and will be detained at Sophiatown SAPS. He faces charges of reckless and negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.”
He is expected to appear in court soon.
