Health Dept denies claims of contaminated water at its head

The Department of Health has denied claims of contaminated water at its head offices in Pretoria.

According to a report published on IOL, staff at the building refuse to drink the water, alleging that it is contaminated.
The department said that this month alone, a private laboratory and the National Health Laboratory Services tested the water.
Spokesperson Foster Mohale refuted the allegations, saying that, in the past three years, the department had regularly tested the quality of drinking water at the building.
"The water passed the standard in line with South African National Standards for drinking water.
"The health and safety of our employees and stakeholders remains our priority, and we would not neglect to do what is necessary to prevent the risk with the potential to threaten their wellbeing.
"We appeal to those who are peddling unfounded allegations to stop since it only serves to create instability and unnecessary panic amongst the employees.”
