Gupta extradition 'could take several months'
National Prosecution Authority head Shamila Batohi says the extradition process for Atul and Rajesh Gupta from the United Arab Emirates could take several months.
Batohi detailed how a team of highly skilled prosecutors is working around the clock to ensure the Guptas are brought back to South Africa to face criminal charges.
She spoke during a press briefing on Monday.
The brothers were nabbed in Dubai last month after an Interpol red notice was issued for their arrests for fraud.
"As this process unfolds and the extradition application is heard in the UAE courts the NPA will continue to collaborate and supports it's counterparts in the UAE to ensure we do all that is necessary to have the Gupta brother extradited and to face justice in South Africa,” Batohi said.

"We must commend the UAE authority for their cooperation during this process. Whereas the process could take several months as the NPA we will continue with our commitment to deliver justice, the country demands this of us and we are ready to keep moving to bring justice."
Justice Minister Ronald Lamola said government has officially submitted extradition requests for Atul and Rajesh Gupta to the UAE.
