Gauteng Premier David Makhura and provincial government officials reopened the new Abram Hlope Primary School in Katlehong on Monday morning.

Infrastructure Development MEC Tasneem Motara said government spent R77 million to refurbish the school.
"Those that are familiar with the school, you would remember the school housed all its pupils in about 20 classes.
"With no administration facilities, with on other support structures, no library and there was no hall such as this one that we are sitting in.
"What we have to do is break down and refurbish the classes that were unable to be used, and we added 15 classes, two laboratories, one library, sports facilities and sports fields," said Motara.
The MEC added that 46% of the money used to build the school went into the community.
"We had 29 contractors busy here on-site, one was the main contractors - 28 of the were locally-sourced.”
All the material used to build the school were also sourced in Ekurhuleni.
