Eskom implements stage 6 loadshedding

Embattled power utility Eskom has ramped up loadshedding to Stage 6 from Friday afternoon and throughout the weekend.

Stage 6 is be implemented from midday on Friday.
This more severe stage was last implemented in September.
In a short statement, Eskom says this is due to the shortage of generating capacity and emergency reserves.
"Stage 6 loadshedding will be implemented from 12pm today (Friday) until 5am on Monday. Eskom will publish a further communication today and continue to closely monitor the power system,” said Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena.
On Wednesday, the utility implement Stage 4 until further notice.
