Domestic travel on the decline
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Fewer and fewer South Africans are choosing to travel locally.

That's according to the Statistics SA's Domestic Tourism Survey 2016.
The report was released on Monday.
Statistician general Pali Lehohla says domestic travel is on the decline.
"There were fewer people travelling. The reasons for not travelling are clear - people are feeling the pinch therefore they are less likely to spend," he says.
He says expenditure on domestic travel has dropped significantly since 2013.
Lehohla says people are still travelling across provinces for funerals and sport.
Who actually travels?
Lehohla says the white population travel twice as often as the black population - particularly on overnight trips.
Lehohla released the statistics at a media briefing in Pretoria.
He says Limpopo is one of the most popular domestic travel destinations.
"The people in Gauteng, Western Cape and Limpopo travel the most."
