DA to approach SAHRC over Gauteng water ‘crisis’
The DA’s Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga says the party will approach with South African Human Rights Commission to investigate the water supply problems in the province.
Msimanga will head to commission’s offices in Braamfontein on Monday to lay a complaint.
He says government needs to be held accountable for its failure to provide basic services.
“The Democratic alliance in Gauteng is concerned about the poor provision of water that seems to be growing.
“We have decided to take the Department of Water and Sanitation and the relevant minister along with the MEC, premier and the president to come and account to the Human Rghts Commission.
“We have been saying, let’s get together a task team so that we are able to figure out what is the problem around water and begin to resolve the issue however our cry has been falling on deaf ears.”
