'ANC has got the power and capacity to self-correct' - Mabuz

African National Congress (ANC) deputy president, David Mabuza says the ruling party has the capacity to get rid of unwanted elements in the party.

Mabuza was speaking to party members in Mankweng, Limpopo, on Friday ahead of the January 8 statement.
The annual celebration takes place this year in the same week that the State Capture Commission released its first report, which sets out the scale of corruption in the country.
Mabuza admits that there are problems in the party but insists the ANC will never die.
“Some people are saying the ANC has got too many problems, the ANC will die, the ANC has got the power and the capacity to self-correct, we will correct ourselves and we will get rid of unwanted elements within our ranks,” he said.
He adds that the party will get rid of corrupt leaders.
“We are going to get rid of all those leaders within the movement who are corrupt. We must reclaim the dignity of the ANC, the ANC is there to serve the people and this organisation belongs to the people, let us restore, let us regenerate, let us renew the ANC.”
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa spent the morning playing golf as part of the ANC’s annual fundraising initiatives.
The party said this week it was going ahead with the festivities, even though it cannot fully pay its workers yet.
