In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Williams said that her family is one of the main reasons why she will be leaving the sport.
She also spoke out about the "unique" sacrifices many women must make in their careers.
“I have never liked the word retirement. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me.”
