Thuso Mbedu-led series wins big at the Golden Globes

Pietermaritzburg-born actress Thuso Mbedu has another win under her belt. Her hit series, 'The Underground Railroad', just bagged a Golden Globe.
The year has only just begun and it is already looking like a good one for South African actress, Thuso Mbedu.
Her multi-award-winning series, 'The Underground Railroad', won 'Best limited series or TV movie' at the 2022 Golden Globes.
The Amazon Prime series beat 'Mare of Easttown', which stars Kate Winslet, 'Maid', 'Impeachment: American Crime Story', and 'Dopesick'.
The Golden Globes awards show was not televised or live streamed this year. A small ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles with no audience.
'The Underground Railroad' has won several awards since it was released last year. Thuso plays a runaway slave named Cora Randall.
Thuso won 'Outstanding Performance in a New Series' at the Gotham Awards in November. She also was honoured at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards in August.
'The Underground Railroad' has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Stars such as Oprah Winfrey praised Thuso for giving a "performance of a lifetime".
Thuso's next big role is 'The Woman King' alongside Oscar winner, Viola Davis.
