It is the month in which we celebrate South Africa's biggest icon - Nelson Mandela (1918-2013).

In the exciting six-part documentary, Madiba: ‘n Uitsonderlike Roeping, Zelda la Grange takes you on a journey to Nelson Mandela’s childhood school, exactly where he lived as an adult. In the first episode, Bono, Morgan Freeman, chief Zwelivelile Mandela tells incredible stories of Madiba.

La Grange tells Jacaranda FM's Carla Mackenzie, ‘There has never been anything exclusive about Madiba in Afrikaans. I decided it is such an important story. Many people blind themselves and just remember the great things Madiba did. He was the president of South Africa. He wore the rugby cap and jersey in 1995 but very few people know the finer details about his childhood, his father and mother. I wanted to go back to the places he told me about over the years. That is how ‘Madiba: ‘n Uitsonderlike Roeping’ started…’

La Grange hopes that people will be able to identify with the value system Madiba grew up with.

This series, produced by Carien Loubser, will start on Sunday, 28 July 2019 at 20:00 on KykNET.
