South African celebrities use national anthem to inspire hope amid coronavirus

These celebrities are singing the national anthem as a prayer to fight against the coronavirus that has killed thousands of people around the world.
Hundreds of South African celebrities are taking part in the #AnthemChallengeRSA, which started on Monday.
The challenge is a call for all South Africans to unite in singing the national anthem as a prayer against the coronavirus.
Celebrities such as Andre Schwartz, Willem Botha, Bianca Le Grange, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Brian Temba, Proverb, and Corlea Botha have taken part in the challenge.

A video of them singing the national anthem was shared on YouTube.
“This isn’t just another video - it’s a call to come together in song. Consider the impact of this time in our lives and be a part of a 1 000-strong virtual choir, united in singing our anthem.
“ During these 2 minutes of song – in isolation, in health… or in tragedy - we reflect together on the lyrics of our anthem, as a source of inspiration and optimism," read an abstract of the video.
