The singer was in surgery for three hours and has canceled a book signing in New York after breaking her ribs and severing her right hand.
Over the last few weeks, Mel B has been busy promoting her new autobiography, 'Brutally Honest', that details her abusive marriage to ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.

Mel B posted a photo of herself in a hospital with her arm in a sling but did not reveal how she got her injuries. The Spice Girl suffered two broken ribs and severed her hand.
She said she needed three hours of surgery to repair damage to her hand and has had to cancel a book signing in New York. "My right arm/hand is all stitched up and I am trying to keep still to heal my broken ribs," the singer wrote in an Instagram post.
The singer added that she is in 'safe hands'. 'I am in safe hands with the care of everyone here at the hospital!!!! Thank you all for understanding,' she wrote.
She also added the hashtags #accidentshappen and #needtimetoheal.
She released her book, 'Brutally Honest', earlier this year following an acrimonious divorce from now ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.
