When the chips were down Madonna's children really showed up for her.
Madonna says she feels lucky to be alive after a health scare that resulted in her being admitted to hospital.
The 64-year-old suffered a serious bacterial infection and spent several days in ICU. She has since been released from the hospital.
The 'Material Girl' hitmaker credits her family, especially her children, for helping her get through the difficult period.
"Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect. As a Mother, you can really get caught up in the needs of your children and the seemingly endless giving... But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference," she wrote on Instagram.
Madonna has six children. Her 26-year-old daughter, Lourdes - whom she shares with fitness trainer Carlos Leon - was reportedly by her side throughout her hospital stay.
The 'Queen of Pop' also has a son named Rocco from her previous relationship with actor Guy Ritchie. Madonna is also a mom to four children she adopted from Malawi - David, Mercy, and twins Stella and Estere.

"If you zoom into this Picture I am holding You will see A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance. Artist who touched so many lives including my own. I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone," she wrote.

It's still unclear if Madonna's 'Celebration Tour' will continue as planned. The tour was postponed due to her health scare.
The first leg of her European tour is expected to kick off in October and end in December. She will then head back to North America that same month for the second leg of her US tour, which will run until January 2024.
The first part of her US tour was postponed last month. New dates are yet to be released.
Madonna seemed to be in good spirits a few days ago. She shared a video of herself dancing to her song, 'Lucky Star'.
She was celebrating the 40th anniversary of her debut album, 'Madonna', which was released on 27 July 1983.
"To be able to move my body and dance just a little bit makes me feel like the Luckiest Star in the world! Thank you to all of my fans and friends! You must be my lucky stars too!" she wrote.
Fans are crossing their fingers that the rest of her tour will continue as planned.
