'Joker' actor calls out racism at BAFTAS

Actor, Joaquin Phoenix has called out racism at the 73rd British Academy Awards (BAFTA).

He received an award for his leading role in the movie 'Joker' on Sunday. 


In a moving speech, Phoenix says a clear message has been sent to black actors that they are not welcome in the industry.




"That is the message we are sending to people that have contributed so much to our medium and our industry and the ways we benefit. I don't think anybody wants a handout or preferential treatment, although that is what we give ourselves every year. People just want to be acknowledged and appreciated,"
