Jennifer Lopez addresses drinking rumours following release of cocktail brand

Jennifer Lopez has set the record straight on why she would release a cocktail brand if she is known to not drink.
Jennifer Lopez raised eyebrows with the launch of her alcoholic brand, Delola, which sells spritzers, tequila, and vodka.
This is because JLo previously said she doesn't drink.
The singer took to Instagram to explain why she would venture into such a business.
“You know what, I know that a lot of people have been talking about, ‘Oh, she doesn’t even drink, what’s she doing with a cocktail out?’" she said in a video posted on Instagram.

She said for several years she wasn't drinking, however, things have changed.
“Years back, as you will see from several photos of me out, over the past 10, maybe 15 years, I have been, you know, having the occasional cocktail,” she added.
The musician and actor said she drinks responsibly.
“I do enjoy the occasional cocktail. I do drink responsibly, I don’t drink to get s–tfaced. I drink to be social and to have a nice time and just relax and let loose a bit, but always responsibly.”
Jennifer said her drink offers a "healthier" option because it has low calories and natural flavours.
“My goals were better ingredients, better taste, fewer calories than traditional cocktails, and one simple pour. Something easy, fun, fresh and delicious. I knew that if I was looking, others were too,” she said in the video.
“Like anything else in my life, I created it myself. I created Delola,” she said. “And Delola is really about a healthier way, something that fit my lifestyle to drink the way that I would drink, the way Jennifer drinks.”

Some people have questioned why JLo would venture into the alcohol business while her husband, Ben Affleck, went to rehab multiple times for alcohol addiction.
"I think it's very distasteful to have your own brand of alcohol and market it when your husband is in recovery. Many people just don't understand the disease. Maybe attending some Al-Alon meetings could help you understand how to support him and understand your own boundaries as well.
"You are an amazing lady but many don't understand that addiction is a disease, like cancer, that kills people and many addicts will have difficulty expressing their needs and wants. You love Ben wholeheartedly but promoting alcohol is not a healthy way to support him," commented IG user Katrina Bajzak on JLo's video.

JLo did not respond to the user.
A healthier alternative
Talking about the drink in an interview with Glamour, JLo said: "I set out to create what I felt was missing…something that's easy with better ingredients, because having fun shouldn't be hard."
"Delola is lower in alcohol than classic cocktails, it has about the same alcohol as a glass of wine. Delola has three amazing spritzes and they are all incredibly delicious. We really wanted to make something that would set you free," she added.
Over the years, many celebrities have ventured into the alcohol business.
In South Africa, Boity, Mampintsha, Pearl Thusi, Bonang, and Cassper Nyovest are some of the South African artists who own alcohol brands.
