Ariana Grande's pledges over R20-million to help trans youth
Ariana Grande is using her influence for a good cause. The star has pledged over R20-million to help the LGBTQ community.
Celebrities are speaking out more openly about transgender equality. The latest is Arianna Grande.
The singer has teamed up with an organisation called Pledge to start the Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund to help raise money for transgender youth who are victims of discrimination and violence in society.
"Please join me in donating to this fund I've created with @pledge.to to support organizations providing direct services and advocating for the rights of trans youth!" she wrote on Instagram.
The initiative comes after Arizona's governor, Doug Ducey, signed two bills last week that seem to be discriminating against transgender youth.

In one of the bills, access to gender-affirming healthcare is restricted, while the other bans trans girls from playing on sports teams that match their gender.
"Right now there are hundreds of disgraceful bills pending in state legislature that target trans youth and aim to curb their rights," said Grande.
The fund will go towards supporting different organisations advocating for the right of transgender youth such as Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, Equality Florida, and Jasmyn.
"This will provide critical funds to organizations advocating for the rights of trans youth," she wrote.
She has pledged to match donations up to $1.5-million (approximately R22-million) to support trans youth.
