Zakes Bantwini on Grammy win: "You don’t get here unless things started a long time ago"
Zakes Bantwini has shared his recipe for success - hard work and consistency!
Zakes Bantwini is in celebration mode after he won a Grammy over the weekend alongside Wouter Kellerman and Nomcebo Zikode.
The trio walked away with the award for the 'Best Global Music Performance' at the Grammys, which took place on Sunday.
They won for their song, 'Bayethe', which was released towards the end of 2022.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Zakes explained that it takes being persistent to get to where he is.
“You don’t get here unless things started a long time ago," he wrote on Twitter.

This is not the first time Zakes has shared with his followers what it took for him to attain his success.
Still on the Grammy win, the musician explained that it took him years to become established.
"Took me 15 years to find my path," he said.
Another secret to his success is that once he discovered who he was, he stayed true to himself.
"I stayed true to myself & my dreams, despite all the hardships that presented themselves," he wrote on Instagram.
The 'Osama' hitmaker thanked his parents for the role that they have played in his life.
"I have no words to express the emotions and grace that have come over me. This moment is owed to my late Mother & Father. Your efforts, sacrifices & lessons you handed down brought out the very best in me. I’m grateful," he wrote.
He ended his statement by adding that God is number one.
"Unkulu’ Nkulu uNumber 1 (God is number one)" he wrote.
Nomcebo Zikode has also thanked her fans for the support she has received.
She first started by acknowledging God for enabling her to be a global superstar.
"Look at God!!! From Hammarsdale to the world! I never imagined that God would take me to such heights and platforms!" she wrote on Instagram.

Nomcebo thanked her fellow musicians, Zakes and Wouter Kellerman, for featuring her.
"I want to give a special shoutout to @wouterkellerman, @tholsi_pillay, @zakesbantwini and @sibo_the_zulu @fraserselwyn for thinking of me when putting this record together, we did it!" she wrote.
The singer, who wore a stunning beaded dress for the Grammys, thanked designer Gert Coetzee for making her look amazing.
"Also I want to thank @gertjohancoetzee for this incredible dress! It really made waves here in LA," she wrote.
She also extended her gratitude to her fans.
"Last but not least I want to thank each and everyone who has supported me and my career since day one, I love each of you and dedicate this win to you! Now to celebrate!!!"
