After spending the last few years touring hard with South Africa’s premier acoustic band Watershed, COVID-19 forced Combrink to stay at home for lockdown and address his own music again.
"The song has a slight Latin feel to it and the reason being is because I wanted it to feel like we are away from home and on a wild adventure walking through life on planet earth."
The City’ is a song I wrote as a message to my fiancé Jehané Oelofse I wanted to tell her in a musical way what we can expect together once we get out of lockdown.
"Everyone felt trapped during the lockdown and I think the message of ‘Hold on, everything is going to be alright’, is what people need to hear in a time like this. The song is a tribute to my wife-to-be and it best explains the adventure we have lying ahead of us. I hope the listeners can relate and use the message of the song to uplift their own spirits in a strange time like this,” Combrink explains.
In celebration of the month of love, Combrink exclusively performed this song for Jacaranda FM.
