Mariah Carey celebrates her Christmas song joining National Recording Registry
Mariah Carey says never in her wildest dreams did she think 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' would make it onto the National Recording Registry.
Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' has reached another milestone.
The song is amongst the 25 chosen to join this year's National Recording Registry.
According to the government website, 'these recordings are not necessarily selected as the “best” recordings of all time, but rather as works of enduring importance to American culture'.
The recording must be at least 10 years old.

Carey took to Instagram to announce the exciting news.
The Grammy Award-winning singer said she was honoured, as she never thought that the song would be part of the National Recording Registry.
"I’m honored beyond belief! I definitely did not even imagine this would happen when writing and recording this song! Thank you so much Ms. Hayden and the @librarycongress," she wrote on Instagram.
Other artists who joined Carey on the list include Madonna ('Like a Virgin'), Queen Latifah ('All Hail the Queen'), and Daddy Yankee ('Gasolina').

'All I Want for Christmas Is You' is one of the biggest hits released by Carey.
It was released in 1994.
The single is found on Mariah Carey’s first holiday album and fourth studio album, 'Merry Christmas'.
The single has reportedly sold more than 14-million copies globally.
The official music video was released 13 years ago and has more than 700-million views.
