Updated | By Poelano Malema
From making a toasted sandwich to laminating documents, irons have many uses other than just ironing out wrinkles on your clothes.
Do you use your iron purely to remove wrinkles from clothes? Well, you will be surprised to know that your iron can do so much more.
Vlogger 5-MINUTE MAGIC has shared more than 20 genius hacks that you can use your iron for.
Believe us when we say, these hacks will certainly make your life so much easier and save you money and time.
Here are five of the best hacks:
Laminating
All you need is a laminating paper, the document you want to laminate, a dry cloth that is heat resistant, and an iron.
Put the document you want to laminate in the laminating paper. Put a dry cloth on top and iron over the cloth for a few seconds. Remove the iron. Your document will be laminated.
Toasting bread
Want to make a toasted sandwich, but don’t have a machine to get the job done? Toasting your bread with an iron is easy. Just place the sandwich in foil and iron on top of the foil. Yummy!
Re-fluff your carpet
Putting furniture on top of your carpet can cause it to lose its fluff. But the good news is that you can use your iron to restore the carpet. All you need, apart from the iron, is a damp towel. Place the damp towel on top of the matted surface of your carpet and iron over it. Within minutes, your carpet’s fluff will be restored.
Fry steaks
Foil, oil, salt and pepper (or whatever spice you want to use for your steak), and an iron - that's all you need to fry the perfect steak.
Just place the steak in a foil, pour oil on the steak and add spices.
Wrap the foil carefully on all sides, and then put the iron on the one side of the foil for a couple of minutes. Turn the foil and put the iron on the other side and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Remove from the foil and enjoy your steak.
Dry wet jeans
Want to wear your favourite pair of jeans, but they are still wet? Don’t fret. You just need a bottle of coke or anything that will hold the top part of the jeans down, a hairdryer, and an iron. Place the bottle on the top part of the jean. Fold the one bottom part of the jean and use a blow dryer to blow the other side of the jeans for a few minutes. Iron the jeans after drying.
Alternatively, if you don't have a coke bottle and a hairdryer, you can just use a dry towel and an iron to dry your jeans. Place a dry towel on top of the jeans and iron for a couple of minutes until dry.
