Five ways your bedroom is making you depressed
Updated | By Poelano Malema
The bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the house.
It's the one place we can go to when we want to shut down the noise from outside, where we can just relax and clear our thoughts. It's also the place where our mornings begin.
This is why it's important to make sure that your bedroom looks good and contributes positively towards how you are feeling.
Your bedroom colour can affect your mood
It goes without saying that colours can have an effect on a person's mood. Your bedroom colour can enhance your mood or make you feel worse. If you constantly feel depressed when in your room, consider changing your wall colours to something brighter and more lively.
Do you regularly change your bedding?
Have you seen how putting on a new outfit can make you feel good? The same can happen when you put on new bedding - you feel revitalised. Make it a habit to change your bedding at least every season.
What kind of paintings are on your walls?
Look around your room and see if the stuff around contribute to how you want to feel. If all the paintings and hangings around the room tell a sad story, chances are, you will feel depressed. Replace them with positive items that will cheer you up, rather than bring you down.
Check the decorations in the room
You can add little things like a lamp on the side of the bed, colourful curtains, a nice carpet etc. to brighten up your room and give it more life. It's the little things that can make a huge difference.
Is your room clean?
A clean and tidy room is so refreshing, but a cluttered room can affect your thinking. When your room is a mess you feel like a mess. So make sure your things are tidy and that your room looks and smells good.
