Monday 13 July marks French Fries Day.

French fries/chips are a favourite in many countries.

They are served in almost every restaurant and can be enjoyed with a variety of dishes, spices, and sauces.

If you want to learn how to make the perfect crispy fries, then look at the tips below:

Choose the right potatoes

Not all potatoes are good for making chips. Some potatoes can affect the taste and texture of your chips.

For the best result, choose the floury potatoes. They have a fluffy and dry texture.

Cut the right sizes

Cut your chips into equal sizes, depending on how you want them to look.

Bigger sizes might take longer to fry.

Wash the potatoes

It is important to wash the potatoes in cold water before frying or grilling them.

So, after peeling off the skin, put the potatoes in cold water for a bit. This helps to remove the starch from the potatoes.

Some people add a bit of lemon to the water to ensure the potatoes do not lose colour.

Freeze and double fry

One of the best tips to get your chips crispy is to fry them at a lower temperature and ensure the inside is cooked.

Once frozen, take them out and fry them again at a higher temperature until they are brown and crispy.

Enjoy!
