Infertility happens when a couple cannot conceive after having regular unprotected sex. It may be that one partner cannot contribute to conception, or that a woman is unable to carry a pregnancy to full term. It is often defined as not conceiving after 12 months of regular sexual intercourse without the use of birth control.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) considers infertility to be “a disease of the reproductive system”, but South African Medical Aids do not have any provision to help their members during this debilitating time.
We chatted about Infertility in South Africa and why Medical Aids don’t support families dealing with this debilitating disease. And even though it was a hard conversation, it felt like I was sitting with the ladies from “Sex and the City”, chatting about how they support each other (and South Africa) through their challenges.- Brendt Lindeque
In this week's podcast, Lucia Oreb, Michelle Borgia Groenewald, Natasha Fagri, and Saskia Williams join Brent Lindeque to talk about infertility as four incredible women who’ve been on the journey.
