SA records another 315 Covid-19 deaths

The Department of Health says more than 300 Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday evening.

Data released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Thursday night, shows that 315 people succumbed to Covid-19 related illnesses.
The Eastern Cape recorded the majority of those deaths at 121.
Gauteng recorded 96 deaths, 55 were from KwaZulu-Natal, 34 from the Western Cape and 9 in the North West.

This brings the total number of cumulative deaths to 7 812.
As of Thursday, 11 046 people tested positive for the coronavirus - bringing the total number of infections to 482 169.
However, 309 601 people have recovered from it.
This means the country’s recovery rate has inched up higher to 64%.
