Hairdressers, restaurants, cinemas to reopen

More industries will now be allowed to reopen under level 3 of the Covid-19 lockdown, President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced.
The personal care industry is among the industries that will be given immunity to operate albeit under strict regulations.
The industry lobbied to reopen after months of bleeding dry.
Restaurants, cinemas, theatres and casinos will also open their doors soon.
Ramaphosa said in a national address from the Union Buildings on Wednesday the decision was taken after the green light from the Medical Advisory Council, Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council.

The Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), the German body responsible for assessing clinical trials and approving vaccines, called the approval "an important milestone". In a statement, it said it had given CureVac the green light based on "a careful assessment of the risk/benefit profile of the vaccine candidate".
“There are businesses at have not earned any income or revenue and individuals that have not had any income for over 80 days.
“The Cabinet has decided to ease restrictions on certain other economic activities and these activities include restaurants for sit down meals, accredited and licensed accommodation, conferences and meetings for business purposes, cinemas and theatres to ne aligned to limitations on the gathering of people, casinos, personal care services including hairdressers and beauty services, non-contact sports such as tennis, golf, cricket and others.”
The sectors, which employ more than 500 000 people, would be allowed to operate under strict measures to ensure physical distancing and personal hygiene.
The dates for the reopening of these sectors will be announced in due course.
