SA see another significant increase in Covid-19 deaths

The number of Covid-19 related deaths continues to significantly increase, with more than 300 fatalities reported by the Department of Health in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday evening.

The department says another 345 people have succumbed to coronavirus-related illnesses. .
In a statement released by Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize on Tuesday evening, he said a staggering 116 of those deaths were in Gauteng.
There were a further 97 deaths in the Western Cape, 89 were reported in KwaZulu-Natal and 43 in the Eastern Cape.

The total number of deaths now stands at 8 884.
The total number of Covid-19 infections stands at 521 318, which is an increase of 4 456 new infections.
The country’s recovery rate is also etching towards 70%, now standing at 69.8%.
