The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that 15 staff members at the George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa have tested positive for Covid-19.
Spokesperson for the department Motalatale Modiba says some affected staff members are recovering from home while others are at healthcare facilities.
Modiba says the process of contact tracing is underway to find all those who came into direct contact with the affected workers.
"What we can assure the public is that parts of the hospital, three wards, have been disinfected to make sure that they are ready to be used again."
Modiba says extra precautionary measures have been put in place against the further spread of the virus at the hospital.
According to the latest stats, Gauteng has 7953 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
