11 000 new Covid-19 infections as SA enters 4th month of lockdown

South Africa entered the fourth month of its Covid-19 lockdown on Monday.

On Sunday evening, the country recorded an increase of 11 2333 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of infections to 445 433.
Gauteng is still the country's Covid epicentre with a cumulative 160 154 infections.
It’s followed by the Western and Eastern Cape.

The country’s recovery rate is etching towards the 60% mark, and now stands at 59.5%.
Despite the improvement in recovery, South Africa continues to record more deaths.
The total number of Covid-19 related deaths stands at 6 769, with 114 more deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period.
