Court dismisses bid to reopen mosques
The High Court in Pretoria has dismissed an application to reopen mosques to allow for prayers during the month of Ramadan.
The application was brought by Muhammed Bin Hassim Mohomed, Anas Mohammed Chotia and the As-Saadiqeen Islamic Centre.

The application came on the back of the arrest of a group of Muslim worshippers for flouting lockdown regulations by gathering for prayers in Mpumalanga last week.
The group’s attorney Zahir Omar says they will now approach the Constitutional Court.
"We are going to apply to the Constitutional Court for direct access. What the government needs to understand is…there is a scorecard of human rights that needs to be observed.
"'Hopefully by Monday, we will have filed an application for the direct access to the Constitutional Court."
All religious gatherings are banned under level 5 and 4 of the national lockdown.
