Sandton terrorist attack warning: Here's what we know
On Breakfast with Martin Bester, the team spoke to Martin Ewi from the Institute for Security Studies about a potential terrorist attack in Sandton.
The United States Embassy in South Africa issued a warning to its citizens based in SA about a potential terrorist attack in Sandton.
According to Jacaranda FM News, the embassy issued the warning on Wednesday, urging its citizens to avoid large gatherings and crowds during the weekend of 29-30 October 2022.

On Breakfast with Martin Bester, the team spoke to Martin Ewi, a senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies.
Ewi shared all of the information that they currently have about the situation, but confirmed they are not aware of where the threat came from.
"How the US government got the information is what we don't know."

Ewi also said that it is not certain that something like this would materialise.
"In the past, it hasn't, but we also know that the threat to South Africa has always been there and it is a threat faced by the entire international community," Ewi said to Martin Bester.
This situation, however, is more specific than general threats as it is focused on a specific place and mass gathering.
