Black Friday: Five helpful tips from a cybersecurity expert

Black Friday is around the corner - and an expert shared some helpful hints and tips on how to be safe when buying online.

Cybercrime is a huge issue in South Africa - particularly on Black Friday which has become a shopping frenzy - online and in stores.

Breakfast with Martin Bester spoke to a cybersecurity expert who shared five helpful tips about how not to get ripped off online. 

"It is important for people to know that clicking onto the wrong link or app can be dangerous. 

"People can log into your phone or even through your camera or speakers" 

HOW TO AVOID ISSUES: 

1. Don't forward anything - not even discount codes

2. Don't click on any 'Black Friday' ad. Rather go directly to the site

3. Do not connect to any free wifi

4. Use new and different passwords when logging in to a new app and don't open any attachments

5. Shop from home or the office
