Vermeulen has thanked White for showing faith in him as a leader while encouraging loyal supporters during this difficult time.

Vermeulen joined the Scenic Drive for a telephonic interview about his new role as the Blue Bulls captain.

"It's a bit difficult. I'm not sure how things will work with COVID-19. We will probably play touch rugby," he laughed.

"I have never worked with Jake White, but I'm looking forward to working with him."
